For best results, you want to use a mold to form the front surface rather
than the back surface.  Variations in the fusing operation will cause the
unsupported surface to sag to some degree.  you don't want to make the front
surface highly variable in thickness as this would make the glass rather
nasty for holding a figure.
However, a flat back and curved front surface is a good idea.
