[ATM] Figuring in turntable (non powered) TOT

Hi, Luis.
I use a turntable at home that is basically just a plywood disk that spins
on top of a piece of corian. The bottom piece could also be another piece
of plywood, or almost anything.. The top piece of plywood has 3 blocks that
keep the mirror from sliding during use. It's very similar to the 2nd
picture down, on the right hand side, in the "Grinding Stand" section of
this page from stellafane.com. Mine, in fact, was actually made by Tom
Gorka, who is one of the very capable instructors for the Stellafane Mirror
Class. (Thanks, Tom!)

(Labelled Turntable Clamped to a Counter)
(There is also a picture of Ken Slater just above it, but don't tell him I
told you that... Oops... sorry Ken!) ;-)
I, too, use it on my kitchen counter, but I have it clamped to the counter,
instead of over the sink. Either way should be fine, as long as it doesn't
bounce around.
To simulate 'walking around the barrel' I just grind or polish a few
strokes, then turn the tool one way a little bit, and the turntable the
other way a little bit, and continue. "Once around the barrel" would be
similar to the turntable/mirror assembly making one full revolution.
Instead of you going around the barrel, the turntable goes around for you.
Hope this helps.
- Dave
