Perhaps, but In my opinion editors duty is to insure that readers
will get what they deserve for their money. This involves any amount of
proof reading and correcting. Especially in technical reading.
Ingalls was not up to this, in Burch article example. Lot of what
Burch said was correct. Errors should be spotted by editor.

If ATM articles will be written in the same style as scientific papers
usually are, they will be very boring reading. Nature of internet is
that communication is instant and two way. Errors can be quickly
spotted and corrected. Not possible with books.
