Took a chip out of the edge, about the size of a potato chip.  If the 
guy masks off an area defined by a chord about 3" deep, he can use 
the rest of the mirror.

Personally, I'd smash it to bits and start fresh.  Not too sensible, 
I guess, but satisfying.  The guy who made the mirror, he just seemed 
patient and a little sad.  Possibly he's a Zen master.
