Bob,

That's a very good idea. My wife suggested a muffler shop, but I want 
something a little more rigid. There is a company in CT called Logan Steel 
(http://www.logansteel.com) that sells aluminum. I'll see what thicknesses 
Hastings Pipe uses and replicate it for my tube. A sheet of aluminum of the 
proper thickness that is 48" x 96" should do the trick here. I'm not much of 
a welder and I really should hire a professional to weld the aluminum.
