[ATM] new folded mirror lens

The big obstruction will reduce the brightness (light lost by being blocked)
and the contrast of low contrast features (e.g. planetary surface detail)
but it will have much less effect on reducing resolution and high contrast
features. See: http://www.astrosurf.com/legault/obstruction.html
Additional light will be lost due to the multiple reflections. To the eye,
the light loss and reduced contrast give the subjective impression of
reduced resolution. While film and CCD imaging recognize the light loss and
reduced contrast, they do not suffer the impression of reduced resolution.
So it's a good idea for cameras, but not for binoculars.

Wow,

This is really interesting!

They say hi-res, but how will that big 'obstruction' affect planetary views?

John
