Horace, until the tool and mirror are in full contact you are not
spherical.  If you continue with the mirror on top, center over center
and about 3" overhang at the end of each stroke, the mirror will get
deeper.  If you change to tool on top and continue center over center,
the edge should gradually come into contact.  Then check the depth.  If
too deep continue tool on top, if not deep enough switch to mirror on
top.  I would be sure that the tool and mirror are spherical and in good
contact before going on to the next grit.  Use the sharpie test for this.
