Hurray...it worked.
I know this is old hat to you cats.
Anyway... i done chopped me out a circle of glass...(that's how us
southerners talk <wink>)
I posted some of the saga at
http://mysite.verizon.net/cmb15s7x/trepan.htm
As far as the blank goes...I didn't really have much trouble with the
chipping and such as the tool cut thru that many folks spoke of. Only one
small area showed any evidence of this problem...no big deal. I might ad
that i did not rotate the work 180 degrees as suggested because i was
worried about getting it centered over the tool properly (relative to the
original center).
I did wind up cutting a bit of a taper into it tho. The taper is
non-exsistent on one side and pronounced on the other...it puckers out, on
what i see as the back of the blank, about 1/16" at its worst. Tho all in
all the back side of the blank is roughly speaking 1/16" wider on the whole
as the front...the front of the disk only varies in diameter by about
1/32"...
So how did i do? Yall think i can make a decent mirror out of this, or
should i start over?
I'm sure to have some more questions...lol...probably about centerless
grinding first and formost...in order to shape this thing up a lil more
before i start making a mirror out of it.

Nice Job! I like your rig, looks really nicely done. An edge grinder which
was discussed here awhile back will take care of the tapering and the one
edge with chips can be on the back.
Nice job,
Mitch
