If you are at 90% and still using #60, I'd recommend that you switch to #80 now. It might seem that it'll take you longer but if you go to 100% and switch to #80, It will take you longer to get rid of the #60 pits and debris. Sneak up on the 100% as you go through the grits.
   
  As for the time to get to 100% relative to another persons results. What is the volume of material removed of your mirror vs his? You may be removing MUCH more glass than he is, what is normal is the amount of time that it takes   Y O U   to make your mirror.
