Hmm, let's say that one might want to purchase the most inexpensive eyepiece
for public viewing, since the glass will become quite dirty every evening
and scratched from time to time. A super wide field of view is hard for the
public to get the correct spacing to enjoy the entire FOV, and exit pupil
needs to be kept reasonable along with long eye relief. Focus is a huge
problem, so best to use a longer focal length instrument.
Here's an idea that the public loves: a video eyepiece with a little
display. Then all the eyepiece problems mentioned above go away, as well as
lack of dark adaptation issues.
