Possible interesest can be caused by showing to starparty Guest what you and they as amateurs can make, often at very cost and reasonable time.

Almost every starparty I have guest commenting very postive on my very obvious home made telescope, and being asked how one can make the optics by hand, often some of these people will visit ad my home shop class to learn and be surprized how one can cut trepan the glass disk out of an broken tabletop and grind/polish/parabolize the mirror and build the complete scope in your spare time at 1/4 or even less cost and equal or better as storebougth,
