If you look at the cured product, it's no surprise. The stuff expands and
probably has  (air?) pockets, so the strength such as it is, is coming from
bubbles. I have had Gorilla glue fail on a wooden chair, so I'd concur I
don't want it in the support loop of my mirror.

I have some Gorilla glue wood glue, which looks and acts and smells a lot
like Elmers. Holds in similar fashion.
