As noted earlier, the edge taking longer to polish than the center, is part
and parcel of the effect that allows us to make mirrors in the first place.

So I concur. The important thing is, if the edge isn't polished, the mirror
isn't done. And as likely as not, the center isn't all that well polished
either.

For the new folk:

All these admonitions are not to bust anyone's chops, or to be yelling "Get
off my lawn" a the local kids. They're more to try to impart that a little
patience might be in order. Time spent polishing is never wasted. I've never
gotten a note back from Clausing telling me that my mirror was too highly
polished, although they will tell you if it wasn't polished enough.

I've always said that the best polishing agent is whatever you are using,
with the addition of some of your own sweat. I've dropped a lot of sweat
onto the mirror and lap.
