Bright young people?  They are all into tattoos, nose rings, and gangstah
culture.   A bit older, and you see them on beer and cigarette street.  And
they don't vote.

I am an officer of a political club and am member of my county and state
party committees.   Nobody there under 50, very few  under 60.   

I think the mass media and the public school system has dumbed down the
whole world.  That is why you find few if any youngsters in telescope
making.  Why make a telescope?  You can buy one from China if you really
have to have one.  Better to spend the money on beer, cigarettes, and
lottery tickets and spend your time getting a good buzz and watching
football games, than hours of endless polishing and figuring.

While there is a health dose of sarcasm in that question there is a bit 
more to it.  We can't look at this from our perspective and come up with 
the answer.
