[ATM] what is centimeter

I agree. The metric
system is better in Germany or California. In reality does it really impact a
design if one uses metric or imperial or even mixed units? If one were
using say 1/2" thick 6061-T6 aluminum plate for some ATM project does it
matter if one calls that 12.7mm plate and isn't the value of Young's modulus going
to be the same for that aluminum plate if the we were to use 68.9GPa or
10,000ksi? It does help to speak the
same language. Out at Joshua Tree monument on Wednesday I met some very pale
(like they never saw the sun) students from Norway looking for Cap Rock
and the remains of Gram Parsons. I mentioned that a few years ago I went to hear the Oslo group Serena-Maneesh over in LA and at that point imperial appeared to merge and mix with metric on the same note and didn't matter if that note was in Hz or cps.
> I live in Germany, and am a confirmed proponent of the metric system. Even here inches are still used for gas and water fittings.
But to add to confusion they are called "Zoll".
