[ATM] I want to make a 6" LENS diaphragm

Gil,
If the scope is a quality scope then what is the advantage of doing that?  I don't understand why one would want less aperture since it will also give you less resolution.  I have always found that quality aperture is always more pleasing the more of it you can get. 

The only time I can see the use is when projecting the sun when I don't want to burn up the eyepiece.
