[ATM] creative lap choices - what has been tried?

Paper is quite OK! I often use this to check a surface
midpoint in grinding. Surface not as good as with
pitch, according to Texereau, looking at Lyotgraphs.
I no longer use newspaper. Better with thicker paper.
What I like most is that it can be placed directly
over the tool and removed again.
